The Ethnographic Film International
Exhibition, Brasil, Rio de Janeiro
Since 1993 an ethnographic film festival of several days with exhibitions, performances and competitions takes place in Brasil. First planned as a more rational film festival the 1996-meeting with latinamerica as focal point and retrospectives of the filmproducers Jean Rouch (France) and Pierre Perrault (Canada) could establish as an international forum of visual Anthropology. More than 80 films from 20 countries were shown in 1996.

11. Pärnu Visual Anthropology Festival and Conference, Pärnu, Estonia, July 1997
This scientific and artistic event with the topic of cultural fight for survival of ethnic groups presents an important meeting point for film-producers and anthropologists from east and west.

Ethnic TV Festival - Poland, Krakow and Przemysl, 9.-12. October 1997
At the english-speaking festival progressive TV- and film-directors should be given the possibility to present their works to public criticism and competition. The films primarily deal with ethnographic subjects and last between 5 and 30 minutes. For further information contact:

NAFA International Anthropological Film Festival, Sweden, Stockholm, May 1998
Continuing the successful cooperation with the National Museum for Ethnographic Sweden documentaries should be presented within one week. The filmfestival of NAFA (Nordic Anthropological Film Association) will be accompanied by a conference dealing with the topic "Man and city". The expected 150-200 guests will be able to call off actual, international data via provided computers. Participants pay an amount of 100 US-Dollars.

Göttingen International Ethnographic Film Festival (GIEFF), Germany, Göttingen, 20.-25. May 1998
The aims of the festival, that takes place every 2nd year, are supporting the critical discussion of the presented ethnographic films and creating a contact between eastern and western filming.
