City of science: Concerted action
An alliance for Münster
In the "Concerted Action of the Scientific City of Münster", the city, its institutes of higher learning and its business community are all pulling together to sharpen Münster’s profile as a city of science and the art of living.
Research at the University
With this strategic alliance, these partners want to expand Münster’s strengths as a base for the sciences and achieve acknowledgement for such in international competition between cities.
The focus is on three topics: "Nanobioanalytics in Medical Technology and Pharmaceuticals" and "Medical Prevention" are directed primarily at cardiovascular disease and stem from the future-oriented “Health Care Management Industry”, in which Münster and its surrounding “Münsterland” is already a well-established base. The structures of the nanobioanalytical landscape are also excellent and significant for the whole of Europe.
The “Peace of Westphalia” forms a third primary focus. The biennial awarding of the Westphalian Peace Prize is also an event that is recognized internationally. The new label, “Münster 1648: Dialogues for Peace”, is intended to raise Münster’s profile within the context of the Westphalian Peace.
