International Relations

Münster has partners all over the world. Since 1957 the capital of Westphalia has concluded ten twinnings with other cities. Meeting people from other countries on an individual basis, getting to know cultural differences, comparing every day life and developing long-lasting friendships are just a few of the charms offered by these partnerships. These are occasions rarely presented to travellers on normal holidays but experiences which many people from Münster and many friends from our twin towns have already been able to make.

The Team for International Relations

In Münster we have different partners concerning International Relations. Within the administration of the City of Münster, the Department of the City Council and the Mayor (Amt des Rates und des Oberbürgermeisters) is in charge of the twinnings and partnerships with other cities. The Council of the City of Münster has also established an inter-parliamentary group for International Relations. In addition to this, various associations, institutions and private initiative groups are "specialized" in their individual twinnings. The city administration will be pleased to further any information regarding relevant contact persons.
Anyone who is especially interested in tourist information about our twin towns or the respective countries can also contact the National Tourist Offices in Germany.

The Team for International Relations

supports and advises you if you have any questions concerning Münster's twinnings
informs you how to get financial support if people from Münster and its twinned cities plan to meet or to organize a common project
initiates, co-ordinates and supports projects and meetings
prepares visits of delegations from or to our twin towns
co-ordinates the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Group for International Relations of the City Council
