Project description:
|
The working committee "A city to live" was set up in 1997, when the women's
commission of the Münster Municipality decided about ist constitution.
Its members include female politicians from the four council factions and
women city administration staff from the various planning departments. The
management is handled by a female planner who is working in the office for
women's affairs.
On the one hand the main focus of its work is the mutual information of
women-relevant planning projects and the exchange of experience of female
planners in a still male-dominated planning and building admini-stration.
Their personal experience from real life situations which differs from the
personal experience of male planners can be brought into the discussions.
These women-specific concerns will be passed down to the departments, factions
and boards.
On the other hand the working committee initiates and attends projects,
arranges events and publishes an-nouncements. In this context the committee
was acted in the preparation of the competition of female archi-tects "Women
plan housing and work" as well as in the preparations of the workshops
"Women speak up - Gievenbeck centre" and "Women speak up - urban neighborhood
planning Roxel".
The booklet "City for Women - A city to live" which was published in March 2001
is animating and assisting female citizens to participate in planning processes.
The administration internal "Guide to an improved consideration of female
concerns in planning and building processes" will support the implementation
of women-relevant concerns in planning and building projects.
