Project description:
|
The Environment and Construction Board of the City of Münster passed a
project in November 1996 which represents a complete concept of guaranteeing
the long-term availability of drinking water through being more economical
with the water we use. In addition to the economic incentives, a particularly
important component of the concept is the water-saving campaign. Public
campaigning should be used to stimulate the idea and persuade people to save
water.
A campaign work period of two to three years has been planned for the
implementation of this concept. A campaign slogan has been composed - 'Saving
water helps right now' something which the general public will immediately
recognise and identify with the project. The campaign logo depicts an old purse
with water spilling out of it. This symbol is supposed to show that saving
water is immediately linked with saving money. This is true for private
individuals as much as for companies and government offices.
The start of the project was in May 1988. The campaign comprised the following
projects:
- Campaign weeks in the city environmental office
- Advice about making use of rainwater
- Exchange of ideas concerning the use of rainwater
- Saving water in hotels
- Saving water in public buildings
- Saving water in schools
- Saving water in old buildings
