Stadt Münster: Amt für Ausländerangelegenheiten

Amt für Ausländerangelegenheiten

A warm welcome...

...to the Foreigners' Registration Office in the city of Münster

Münster is international. More than 150 nationalities live in our city. We, the Foreigners' Registration Office, care about the residence of all foreigners staying in Münster. In doing so we are bounded to laws - the Federal Residence Act, the Freedom of Movement Act and other legal norms.

Here, it is always necessary to take individual cases into account, and we urge you to visit our information and service area on the ground floor for initial counselling.

The Advisory Board for Foreigners may also prove to be of interest to you.
The Advisory Board for Foreigners is an elected political body which represents the interests of foreigners in Münster. It represents your interests before Münster’s city council. Board members also consider themselves intermediaries between foreigners and the authorities when it comes to solving individual problems.

Introduction of the electronic residence permit (ERP)

The conventional residence permits (adhesive labels), the residence and long-term residence cards and substitute identity documents in paper form will be replaced from 1 September 2011 onwards by the electronic residence permit.
The ERP card is equipped with a contact-free chip inside, on which the holder's biometric data (photograph and fingerprints), stipulations and restrictions relating to the right of residence and the personal data are stored. Further information...
